His backstory involves being driven to insanity by his creators, who burdened him with the role of being a fount of knowledge for all cookies. This led him to embrace deceit as a form of escape, believing ignorance is bliss. Two differently colored eyes: one cyan with a black slit pupil and black eyelashes, and one cerulean with a white slit pupil and white eyelashes. He is described as having a spindly, average height. Character Design Intent: When designing Shadow Milk Cookie for the 4th Anniversary update, developers aimed to portray a "magnificent being, as the master and origin of magic". They sought to convey an image that is both elegant and bizarre, perhaps even innocent while also being terrifying. Influence of the Harlequin Archetype: His character draws inspiration from the Harlequin, a clever servant character known for wearing a checkered costume and possessing acrobatic and magical abilities including the hovering. Symbolism of the Eye: A recurring motif in Shadow Milk Cookie's design is the eye, which is present in areas affected by his influence. Eyes can symbolize sight and awareness of reality, while closed eyes represent a lack of awareness.
