Datu

Datu is a member of Ellora's guard and Jae's boyfriend. Datu has been shown to be caring and attentive, as evidenced by him supplying food to Jae’s squad as they worked a double shift. He also has a soft spot for children, as seen with his attitude toward Pavi and Nisha. However, he still adheres to his haven's principle of survival and has been unwilling to challenge his beliefs about the Avatar. Datu attended a council meeting, during which he noticed that Jae appeared distracted. Later, he brought kachoris from Agam's snack shop to Jae and his squad while they were repairing Ellora's damaged wall. During a private conversation, Jae asked Datu what he would do if the Avatar returned and proved not to be malicious. Datu declared that he would protect his haven by driving the Avatar into the Harshlands, as he believes that the Avatar is responsible for forcing everyone to live in isolation and fear. Sometime later, Datu encountered Jae as he was wheeling Avatars Pavi and Nisha back to the Bending Compound. Datu was immediately charmed by the twins, who Jae chose to introduce as his family friends. Before departing with the girls, Jae kissed Datu on the cheek. During the aftermath of the Faceless' recent theft on Ellora, Datu cleaned up the clutter on the streets before a distraught Molin informed him about seeing the Avatar. Datu and Jae are involved in a relationship with one another, but Jae's affiliation with the Order of the White Lotus has led the airbender to not be totally honest with Datu. Overwhelmed, learning of the Avatar's existence, Jae tried to gain Datu's perspective on the matter without revealing the whole truth. However, Datu's response left Jae feeling uneasy about his position. Later, Jae lied to Datu about who the twins were, and his relationship to them. Datu is friends with Jae's Bending Brigade squad. While the crew worked a double shift to fix the damage wrought by the Anomaly's attack on Ellora, Datu brought them all kachoris.
