Hazel Levesque is a Roman demigod daughter of Pluto (the Roman aspect of Hades) and Marie Levesque, introduced in The Son of Neptune. She is one of the seven heroes of the Prophecy of Seven half-sister to Nico di Angelo, she possesses powerful Underworld abilities, such as controlling precious metals and gems an ability. Born in 1928, she grew up in New Orleans during the 1930s where her mother's greedy wish for earthly riches cursed Hazel to summon deadly, misfortune-bringing jewels whenever she got nervous or used her powers. Under the influence of the Earth Mother, Gaea, Marie became unstable and moved Hazel to Seward, Alaska—a region beyond the jurisdiction of the gods. Upon realizing Gaea's true intentions, Hazel refused to cooperate. She used her powers to trigger an eruption/collapse, destroying the island and stopping the giant's rebirth. Both Hazel and her mother died in the blast in 1942. For nearly 70 years, Hazel remained in the Underworld until her half-brother, Nico di Angelo, discovered her. Because the Doors of Death were being forced open, Nico was able to bring her back to the world of the living. Following her resurrection, Hazel found her way to the Wolf House and Camp Jupiter. Frank Zhang is a Roman demigod, son of Mars, and a legacy of Poseidon, making him a descendant of both Greek and Roman gods. He is a member of the "Prophecy of Seven," a skilled archer and shapeshifter, and a Praetor at Camp Jupiter.
