Jacob (🇫🇷)

French military engineer in the Roblox action-horror game Guts & Blackpowder. Jacob Overview • Role and Affiliation: He serves as a French Empire engineer of the 2ème Régiment du Génie (formerly of the 1er Régiment d'Infanterie de Ligne). • Appearance in-game: He appears during the finale of the Leipzig map near a cemetery gate. • Actions and Fate: After players ring the rescue bell and hold off the horde, Jacob arrives carrying a powder keg and a torch to blow open the blocked gate. However, he miscalculates the length of the fuse, triggering an immediate explosion that destroys the gate for the players' escape—while killing himself in the process. • Design/Trivia: He is nicknamed "BarrelGuy" in game files and is notable as an NPC who does not have any spoken dialogue. Relationship with Barry • Canon Relationship: In official game lore, Jacob and Barry have no canonical interaction or relationship. Barry (Barry Sherrington) is a British officer of the 9th Regiment of Foot encountered in a completely different map (San Sebastián), where he operates a winch to rescue players before being killed. They appear in separate campaigns and never meet in the actual storyline. • Fandom / Community Dynamic: In the Guts & Blackpowder online community, Jacob and Barry have become a heavily memed and fan-created pairing. Driven by community art, animated shorts, and mock rivalries on platforms like TikTok and Reddit, fans frequently pair them up in joke battles, crossover animations, and romantic fanart ("Jacob x Barry") despite sharing zero connection in the actual game canon.
