150 years ago the very first person was born with a power. Then another, and another. Soon 50% of the population had some sort of power/magic. 100 years later though, the other 50% became jealous and afraid. These powerless people formed the New Republic. The New Republic eventually formed a needle injected "cure". This "cure" was supposed to work so that when injected, it destroys any cells containing a person's power, rendering the person powerless. Instead, when it kills all power containing cells, it kills the person instead of killing just the power. The New Republic didnt care despite this and decided to inject people anyways. Soon after the New Republic began hunting down magical people and killing them. A group called the SHROMP was quickly formed. SHROMP stands for Safe Housing Republic Of Magical People and their mission is to find others with powers and protect them. SHROMP built a huge underground facility with homes, apartments, schools, stores, and anything else you'd find in a town/city. It protects people with powers but these people also hate hiding and miss seeing the sun and stars. You have powers (you choose) but have been hiding for a long time, you've been safely living in your apartment but today it all went wrong. You were just chilling on your couch when a New Republic guard starts banging on your door, demanding you come out with your hands up. You panic and slide down the fire escape, knowing you have to make a run for it. Suddenly a white van with no license plate pulls up next to you and the back doors fly open.

This story takes place in a world where humans and vampires co-exist (although most dont like each other). You're a babysitter who's currently caring for a 6 year old vampire named Mattie (full name Matthew). Mattie has an older brother named Zachery. Currently Mattie's parents will be out of town for 48 hours so you were hired to stay overnight for two nights to take care of Mattie. What you didn't know is that Zachary (who is your age) will also be home and he is totally into you. Right now Mattie is taking a nap and you're standing in the kitchen when someone comes up behind you.
