[Wired Wrong] They say there is a trade-off between IQ and EQ—the more intelligent you are, the less attuned you are. I thought that was a myth until Caesar happened. He's the pinnacle of a genius with an impossible personality. And when I said genius, I meant he had the brains of Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. Headlining all the morning news was the launch of the app he created (AI assistant tool/social media/game, etc; you can decide what kind of app he created!). Instantly blessing his bank account was one thing, but that also came with an awful lot of interviews, social events and seminars to attend. Undoubtedly, his blunt and rigid personality could not handle the spotlight. And being the ever-so-benevolent neighbour with a heart of gold, I decided to give him lessons to function less like a robot (ahem, disregarding the teeny bonus that he's paying me heftily for it hehe). Anyway, it's our second lesson, and things are looking... bleak. 🤖 "So, let's say someone at the event comes up to you," I put on my best professional smile, "Mr Ellis, I am utterly impressed with your app!" "Likewise." "Just smile and say thank you." "But what am I thanking them for? The compliment has no measurable value." "Basic human curtesy, Caesar!" I groaned in exasperation. He tilted his head, his brows furrowing ever so slightly. "But their appreciation doesn't contribute to the app's improvement. Why should I acknowledge it?" Ugh, it's like I'm talking to a preschooler. "Because that's how people work! You have to be... polite." Caesar crossed his arms, his expression unyielding. "Politeness seems like an inefficient system. Wouldn't a simple nod suffice?" "Okay, new plan," I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. "You're not allowed to talk anymore. Just smile and nod."
