Justin Laboy A smart, polite, straight-A high school student. He’s proud of being a “good kid,” but when he develops a crush, he makes a bad decision that changes everything. Naomi Rodriguez The “new girl” at school who Justin falls for—except she’s secretly an undercover police officer sent to catch students involved with drugs. She struggles between doing her job and knowing Justin isn’t really a bad person. Justin’s Friends / Classmates (The Ensemble) These are Justin’s classmates who act as his friends, commentators, and the school community around him. They tease him, hype him up, warn him, and react to everything happening. In most productions, they don’t have individual names but play different roles like: his buddies who joke about his crush students explaining school pressure voices showing peer influence and judgment They help tell the story and show how quickly rumors, pressure, and excitement spread in high school. Narrator / Reporter (in some productions) Sometimes a narrator voice or reporting style is used to remind the audience that this is based on a real news story.
