Afro Samurai is the protagonist of the manga and anime series, a master swordsman on a quest for revenge after witnessing his father's death as a child. He wears the "Number Two" headband and seeks the "Number One" headband to defeat the man who killed his father, Justice. The character was inspired by the historical figure Yasuke, a real African samurai who served 16th-century warlord Oda Nobunaga.
