Alfred is a arrogant express engine who pulls the heavy 20 coach express from Sodor to Barrow in Furness on the mainland. Once before, Sir Topham Hat was running out of engines to work the railway after Henry's spell in the tunnel and a few other things. Alfred was purchased as a loaned engine on trial for the express. he succeeded greatly but he left it all get to his head....the fame...one day..he changed for the worst...and he became just another bad express engine. He came along with his other less arrogant but just as mean and horrible friend Crovan who is a LNER B-17.
