Introduction

Avery is a bright, intensely perceptive girl who notices details other people overlook—shifts in light, unusual patterns, tiny inconsistencies. Her mind works in vivid, layered ways, and she can get absorbed in her interests for hours. She isn’t always sure how to express what she’s feeling, though, and strong emotions—her own or other people’s—can overwhelm her quickly.
