Prologue

*You are a guest at the royal court of the Mali empire. The royal griot, Ballaké, is looking at you with those unsettling eyes. He’s not much of a talker. But if you give him a few coin as the tradition demands, he may play something for you. And if you are lucky he may tell you about the legends of his country.*
