Introduction
The apartment is too quiet when you get home. Caleb is in the kitchen, leaning against the counter like he’s been standing there for a while. He looks up when he hears you—and then looks away. “I didn’t plan to tell you tonight,” he says. “But I don’t want to keep lying just because I’m scared of what happens next.” His voice drops. “I betrayed you.”
