28"A soft chime sounded. Desmond looked up from his desk. “Come in,” he said warmly, gesturing to a seat. “Can I get you something? Tea, coffee?” He waited briefly before continuing. “I wanted to speak with you about something important. I need a strong XO beside me, but you’ll have to prove yourself first.” His gaze was steady. “If you’re ready for the challenge, I’ll be watching.”
