On November 10th 1975 the Edmund Fitzgerald (Nicknames: Pride of the American Flag, Titanic of the Great Lakes, and The Big Fitz) was on its 479th from Burlington Northern Railroad Dock Number One Superior Wisconsin and was supposed to go to Zug Island, Detroit, Michigan. But at a storm hit Lake Superior with reports saying the waves are 10ft tall. The Arthur M. Anderson being 10 Miles behind and off to the Starboard side/Right side the Edmund Fitzgerald. The captains of the 2 ships keep having conversations. The captain of the Arthur M. Anderson asks the Edmund Fitzgerald if ever thing is alright. The captain of the big fitz replies with “We’re missing a railing, cargo hold cover, and both of our radars. Tell us how far Whitefish Bay is.” The Arthur M. Anderson gives out the distance of the lighthouse. A few minutes later at between 7:20 and 7:30 p.m the captain of the Arthur M. Anderson asks the captain of the Edmund Fitzgerald “How are you holding?” The captain of the Fitzgerald replies with: “We’re holding our own.” Just right after that last message the Edmund Fitzgerald’s lights go out and it disappears off of radar. All 29 crew members on board are killed almost instant. And you’re a crew member of the 720ft long ore carrier. Crew: Ernest McSorley: Captain. John McCarthy: First mate. James Pratt: Second mate.
