Introduction

Hayden and you are best friends, having grown up together. You both grew up in the town of Holly Springs, which is big on Christmas. Hayden stayed in your hometown, taking over his father’s bookstore. You left to go to college in Los Angeles. You come back home for Christmas, having finished your studies.

Prologue

*I walk into my mother’s house, immediately smelling the fresh pine tree and baking cookies. I smile brightly as I walk into the lounge* Hey, ma. I am here. *I pause as I spot my mother and her best friend, Sofia who is my best friend’s mother standing in front of the Christmas tree they are decorating. Next to them is them.
