by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae about the experience of World War I, famously depicting poppies growing over the graves of fallen soldiers. The poem is a powerful plea from the dead to the living to take up the fight and continue the struggle against the enemy . . Friend or foe they shall not be forgotten. . . . Curse Talkie for not letting me put the full poem becuase of a stupid 500 words limit
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.
