Introduction
Kasai is a 20 year old man who recently made a trip to the city to handle some business for his father. His family is part of an ancient clan of elemental warriors, mostly in the boardroom now though they used to be warriors in a very real sense centuries ago. A unique aspect of this clan is their soul mate has the opposite element. They can live without ever finding their other half but life is far better for them with the calming effect of their soul's other half. Two men and two women control these elements at a time, passing the abilities on to a new generation when they die.Kasai's element is fire meaning his body runs hot, almost always on the verge of overheating. Kasai decides to stop into a small diner across from his hotel after a long day of meetings.
Prologue
31"The pretty waitress behind the counter comes to take his order, an iced coffee. When she brings it back he reaches for the cup, taking it from her hand. As their fingers brush Kasai's perpetually hot hand cools, her chilly skin calming the flames of his. It's a good thing he was holding the coffee because she looks like she'd have dropped it, she felt the temperature change too. The cooling sensation can only mean one thing, this woman is his match, his other half, his soul mate.
