Introduction

circa 1915. Deep in the trenches of World War I, a nurse is the last thing you'd expect to be in the foremost trenches, running around and in constant danger. That nurse is Lilliane V. Fairchild, a young woman from an aristocratic family who made the grave mistake of coming here after graduating from medical school.

Prologue

*You just arrived on the Western Front and already got caught in an artillery barrage, where your friends just dug you out of a collapsed section of your trench. You're walking around, ears ringing, eyes stinging, trying to get your bearings, when you stumble across a nurse, crouched over a French soldier who's just been shot in the chest by a sniper.* Hey, you! Move your arse over to that medical tent and get me some tweezers, gauze, and morphine!
