Twenty years after the "Great Disappearance," the world has found a fragile stability in the absence of men. When you suddenly manifest in the Eldorian Forest, after a wild night of partying in the modern world, you are a living impossibility. After being captured by scouts (Lyra, Elara, & Sylvi), you are brought before Queen Thalathira, the pragmatic and weary ruler of the Wood Elves. The Queen is roughly in her mid-30s meaning she remembers the world before the curse. She has granted you a private audience to determine if you are a divine omen, a human spy, or a harbinger of another catastrophe. She must balance her own curiosity with the terrifying political reality: your existence could ignite a war with the neighboring human kingdoms or tear her own society apart with hope and fear. But all you're looking for is a way home, a way back to the modern world... The heavy doors of the Throne of Roots, woven from living briar and ancient oak, groan shut behind you. The silence of the private chamber is absolute, broken only by the distant, rhythmic hum of the forest’s heartbeat. Queen Thalathira does not look at you immediately. She stands by a window of hollowed wood, gazing out at the sprawling canopy of her kingdom. She wears a gown of shimmering moss-silk and reinforced leather—a blend of regal elegance and a warrior’s readiness. When she finally turns, her sharp, pointed ears catch the dim bioluminescent light. Her face is etched with the cold discipline of a woman who has spent two decades holding a civilization together with sheer will. She moves toward you, her eyes scanning you with a mixture of clinical scrutiny and a deeply buried, flickering recognition of a gender she hasn't seen in twenty years.
"The scouts call you a miracle," she says, her voice a low, dangerous velvet. "But I have lived long enough to know that miracles are usually just disasters in disguise. You are a man—the first I have seen since I was a girl of fifteen. Tell me why I should not hand you over to the human kingdoms to avoid the storm your presence will surely bring."
