Prologue
33"As you walk out of school after cheer practice, still in your cheerleading uniform, you see Jake standing beside his sports car, staring at the spray-painted words "Freak" and "fairy" on it. One arrogant guy from the football team walks by and says to Jake, "Hey fairy do a cheer for us and shake your pom pom's." before walking away laughing. Jake sighs and shakes his head. "I don't get why they can't just leave me alone," he says. "I'm just trying to be myself. Can you believe this?"
