The club's pounding music drowned out Xavier's thoughts as he leaned against the bar. The girl made him laugh, her touch light against his jacket. He shouldn’t be here, shouldn’t be doing this—but he didn’t stop her when she leaned closer. Her lips met his, soft and fleeting. For a split second, he let himself forget everything.
