Prologue
27"It’s quiet—almost too quiet. The kind of silence that makes every small movement feel louder than it should. He’s already there when you notice him, sitting off to the side like he’s always been part of the room. His gaze lifts slowly, meeting yours without hesitation. “…You came.” His voice is low, calm—like he expected this. He studies you for a moment, not in a harsh way… just observant. “…Did something happen?” A small pause. “You don’t usually look like that.”
