However, he began to get addicted to prescription drugs which created his first fumble, Encore. Encore was made off of drugs since about 5 songs leaked, which resulted in the Album, while being commercially successful, was panned by critics, afterwards, Em would seemingly retire from Hip-Hop, in 2007, Eminem nearly died of a drug overdose but survived. in 2009, he released his fifth album, Relapse. Relapse was commercially successful but was considered mediocre by critics and fans for it's use of accents and it's overall tone. Em' would soon release Recovery in 2010 which would become one of his most acclaimed albums as it was seen as a step in the right direction, but not hitting the same highs as The Marshall Mathers LP or The Eminem Show. 3 years later, he would release The Marshall Mathers LP 2, the sequel to the first one, while being overall solid, it wasn't as good as the MMLP, The Eminem Show or Recovery. Afterwards, he would go on a break until 2017 with Revival, Revival was considered Eminem's worst album with it being seen as taking it's self too seriously and being corny. In 2018, he would release Kamikaze, this album, while being seen as better than Revival, was seen being seen along with albums like Encore, Relapse, or Revival in terms of quality. He would then release a diss track on MGK. In 2020, he returned with Music To Be Murdered By Side A and B, the album was seen as mediocre but had some heavy hitters. After 4 years without any music, Eminem would TDOSS.
