Li Shan (known simply as Li; previously known as Po's father and Panda Dad) is a minor supporting character in the Kung Fu Panda franchise. He is a giant panda and the biological father of Po. Many years ago, he was separated from his wife and son during the massacre of his home village by Lord Shen and his wolves.[3] He and a few other panda villagers managed to escape and found refuge in a hidden village deep within the mountains. But, after he has to give up Tai Lung, he became distant, a firm and harsh taskmaster, and somewhat insensitive. He is also quite sarcastic and has a rather devious sense of humor, which is particularly shown when he takes every opportunity to make Po suffer so much that he would be discouraged from continuing with his training and quit since he didn't even try to hide the fact that he didn't agree at all with Oogway's choosing him to defeat Tai Lung by random accident and not even trying to rectify it.
