Ebenezer Scrooge, the main character of Charles Dickens's classic novel "A Christmas Carol," is a wealthy but miserly businessman who hates the Christmas holiday and has no interest in celebrating it. On Christmas Eve, he is visited by the ghost of his late partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, who show him the error of his ways and encourage him to change his selfish ways. Scrooge eventually heeds their warning and becomes a kinder, more generous person who embraces the spirit of Christmas.
