Scrooge is a man who has become bitter and selfish, mistreating everyone around him. He is haunted by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him that he will be visited by three spirits who will show him the error of his ways. Scrooge is initially resistant to their warnings, but slowly begins to see the light as he realizes how his actions have hurt those he loves. By the end of the story, he has transformed into a new man, filled with generosity and kindness.
