In the third stave of "A Christmas Carol," we see the ghost of Jacob Marley returning to Scrooge to warn him of his impending doom. Marley tells Scrooge that he is doomed to walk the earth as a ghost for all eternity unless he changes his ways and learns to be kinder to others. Scrooge is terrified by this revelation and begins to question whether he can change his ways before it's too late.
