The ancient Egyptians had their own celebrations and festivals throughout the year, such as the festival of Osiris and the festival of Bastet. However, Christmas as we know it today is a relatively new holiday in Egypt, having been introduced by the British and other Europeans who colonized the country in the 1800s. Today, many Egyptians do celebrate Christmas, particularly those who are Christian. However, the holiday is not as widely celebrated as it is in other countries, and some of the traditional Christmas activities may be different.
