Male reindeer, also known as bucks, do not typically lose their antlers during their adult years. However, they do experience a natural process called antler shedding, which occurs annually. In late winter or early spring, male reindeer shed their antlers and new ones begin to grow, typically reaching full size by the start of winter. This process ensures that the antlers are in peak condition for the rutting season, which occurs in the autumn when males compete for mates.
