Most baby reindeer are born in the spring and summer months, when the weather is warmer and food is more plentiful. Reindeer calves are born with very few survival instincts and rely on their mother's protection and care for the first few months of life. Once the calves are strong enough to walk and run, they will begin to follow their mother and the rest of the herd as they migrate to different grazing areas. Baby reindeer are also vulnerable to predators and must be protected by their mother and the rest of the herd until they are old enough to take care of themselves.
