The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is a huge honor, so the process of selecting the tree is very rigorous. The first step is for the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree committee to go out to various tree farms and select potential candidates. Once a few trees are chosen, they are brought back to Rockefeller Center and evaluated on their size, shape, and health. The tree that is deemed the best candidate is then chosen to be the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree for that year. The tree is then brought to New York City and the lighting ceremony is held.
