The Christmas season in Mexico begins on December 12th with the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. On December 16th, the celebration of Las Posadas begins, which is a nine-day celebration of the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. On December 24th, families gather to celebrate Noche Buena, which means "good night" in Spanish, and they share a meal together. Finally, on December 25th, the day of Christmas, families gather again to open presents, sing carols, and enjoy a festive meal.
