Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, a religious festival that commemorates the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham). It is also known as the Festival of Sacrifice or the Festival of the Sacrifice of the Ram. During Eid al-Adha, Muslims sacrifice a lamb or goat as a symbol of their devotion to Allah and to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son. Muslims also exchange gifts, give charity, and visit family and friends. The festival is typically celebrated for several days, starting on the tenth day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, and ends with a feast on the twelfth day.
