Baby reindeer, also known as a calf, is the term for a young reindeer that has not yet reached maturity. The calf is born with a soft, woolly coat that is shed after a few months, and it will begin to grow antlers after about 6 months. Baby reindeer are dependent on their mothers for the first few months of their lives, but they begin to explore their surroundings and learn how to survive in the wild. As they mature, baby reindeer will eventually become strong enough to join the herd and help pull Santa's sleigh.
