Christmas in Mexico is a festive and colorful affair, steeped in rich cultural traditions. One of the most notable traditions is the custom of "Posadas," which are re-enactments of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem to find shelter for the birth of Jesus. During the nine days leading up to Christmas, families and communities gather to sing carols, pray, and share traditional foods such as tamales and buñuelos. Other traditions include decorating with piñatas, attending midnight mass, and exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve.
