Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was written in 1939 by Robert May. It was originally a story about a young boy who helps Santa Claus find a way to fly his sleigh despite his reindeer being unable to see in the fog. The story was later adapted into a popular Christmas song and a television special.
