Traditionally, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is lit on the first Thursday of December at 8:30 p.m. ET, but this year, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the lighting ceremony will take place virtually on Wednesday, December 1st at 6 p.m. ET. The tree will be lit with 3,000 multicolored lights and will remain lit until January 1st. However, the annual tree lighting ceremony is a beloved tradition and is expected to be held in person next year, so be sure to keep an eye out for updates.
