Christmas Carol is set in 1843, a time of great social and economic change in England. The novel follows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy but miserly old man who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley. Scrooge is taken on a journey through time and shown the consequences of his greed and selfishness.
