when to put elf on the shelf out

Each year, the Workshop selects one elf to be temporarily placed on the Shelf of Regrets to help Santa keep an eye on the behavior of all the boys and girls. The elf is chosen based on their expertise in monitoring and judging, and they serve as Santa's extra set of eyes and ears during the Christmas season. The elf is taken down from the shelf once Christmas is over, and they're free to return to their regular duties in the Workshop.
