Reindeer live in the Arctic tundra, the vast and icy wilderness of the North Pole. Reindeer are the most abundant large mammal in the Arctic, with populations ranging from the northern coast of Norway to northern Russia, Canada, and Alaska. They are also found in Mongolia, China, and Greenland. In the winter months, reindeer migrate long distances to reach their summer grazing grounds, traveling up to 30 miles a day through the Arctic snows.
