who was the dentist elf in rudolph

The dentist elf in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was named Hermey. He was a young elf who was training to become a dentist and didn't like making toys like the other elves. He befriended Rudolph and helped him find a way to use his red nose to help guide Santa's sleigh on Christmas Eve. Hermey eventually became the official dentist for Santa and his reindeer team.
