why did the elves come to middle earth

The elves came to Middle-earth seeking a new home, as their original home, Valinor, had been closed off to them. They sought a land that would allow them to continue their culture and way of life, free from the influence of the evil Morgoth, who had caused so much destruction in Valinor. In Middle-earth, they found the perfect home, with plenty of open spaces and natural resources to explore and develop their culture. They settled in the forested regions, becoming known as the Wood-elves, and eventually spread across Middle-earth, establishing many great elven kingdoms.
