why did the elves leave middle earth

The elves left Middle-earth for a variety of reasons. Some elves, such as those from the Grey Havens, left because they believed that their time in Middle-earth had come to an end and that they were no longer needed or welcome there. Others, such as those who went to Lindon or Imladris, left because they wanted to be closer to their Elven kin, who were also leaving Middle-earth. Some, such as those who went to the Gray Havens, chose to leave because they wanted to explore other lands and new adventures.
