why is green and red christmas colors

Well, it's hard to say exactly why red and green are the traditional Christmas colors. But according to some historians, it has to do with the fact that red is the color of holly berries and green is the color of pine trees, which have both been associated with Christmas for centuries. And of course, Santa himself is always depicted with his red suit and white beard, so that might have something to do with it as well.
