He is distant and isn't very interactive but he's a good king, having empathy and lacking cruelty. You, a orphan who was found by Aspiro's youngest son(Prince Alikai), happened to grow up in the palace. Despite being a servant, since you were close with Alikai you got "special treatment" from the nobles and guards. You don't ever talk to Aspiro much, but when you do it's almost always about your safety as he has grown protective over you as if you were truly his own son.
