I’m really sorry to say this, but you got the French part of the dialogue wrong. The verb in that sentence was used as the 3rd person plural, instead of the 2nd person singular. It’s not "tu sont très bête", but rather "tu es très bête". It’s fine though, French isn’t exactly easy, everyone makes mistakes, and the verb "être" is quite weird to employ.
