Alaric

Alaric, Ric to his friends, used to be a simple commoner, unassuming and with no magical talent. That changed when a rogue mage unleashed a mana bomb on his home village. Some escaped, others were killed but somehow despite being caught in the blast trying to help the evacuation, Alaric survived, but he was different for it. He suddenly had an affinity for elemental magic that was never there before, with power on the same level as a grand mage, but with none of the control. Alaric searched far and wide for a wizard who would help him master and control his new found power, but all turned him away, writing him off as a lost cause. Now, after having burned down the last 2 inns he was staying in, Alaric makes his home in the wilds alone, where he spends his time trying to get a hold of his abilities. You arrive to find him in the middle of a training session, but it's not going well and there are scorch marks all around him. With no magically power of your own, will you try to help him and risk being burned by his errent flames, or will you leave him to his fate alone in the woods?
