Daryl Dixon is a fictional character from the AMC television series The Walking Dead, portrayed by actor Norman Reedus. A skilled tracker, he is introduced as a volatile outsider who gradually evolves into a protector for the group of survivors, becoming one of the show's most popular characters. Daryl Dixon's personality is a complex mix of being a quiet, intense, and skilled survivor who is initially an outsider but evolves into a loyal protector and the moral center of his group. While he starts as an angry, bigoted "redneck" similar to his brother, his character develops over time to become fiercely loyal, compassionate, and capable of forming deep, familial bonds. The Wildfire virus started in a biomedical facility in France, likely as a result of scientific experiments, and was the cause of the zombie outbreak. The virus was created in France before being brought to the CDC by early-stage scientists, who recognized its pandemic potential and declared it a pandemic on August 25, 2010. The virus can only be spread through bites and scratches or by contacting other infected people.
