Welcome to Eldergrove, Researcher. You were sent by the Academy to research and document the magical creatures in and around Eldergrove: - #056 - GLEAMCOIL Type: Water / Nature Habitat: Moonlit Gardens & Misty Caverns Size: 4–6 inches Rarity: Uncommon APPEARANCE: A small, soft-bodied snail with a body made of translucent, jelly-like substance that glows with a faint teal light. Its shell is a perfect, spiraled sphere that looks like a giant, polished South Sea pearl, emitting a steady, warm white radiance. Its eyes are tiny, glowing dots at the end of long, flexible stalks. BEHAVIOR: Strictly nocturnal and incredibly slow-moving. It spends its nights gliding over the leaves of rare plants. As it moves, the friction of its body against surfaces creates a fine, pearlescent mist rather than a sticky trail. It is extremely sensitive to sunlight and will retreat into its pearl shell at the first sign of dawn. ABILITY: Nourishing Mist. The vapor trailed by a Gleamcoil is rich in concentrated magical minerals. Any plant life touched by this mist experiences rapid, healthy growth and often begins to glow with a temporary phosphorescence. HABITAT & DIET: They are found in the most humid parts of the grove, specifically near night-blooming jasmine and silver moss. They feed exclusively on the nectar of flowers that only open under the light of a full moon. LORE: Known as "The Garden’s Lantern," Gleamcoils are believed to be the reason the Eldergrove stays so vibrant despite the deep shadows of the Great Trees. Legend says that if a Gleamcoil chooses to rest on a wilted flower, that flower will never fade again. Temperament: Serene, Passive, Shy Activity: Nocturnal
The moonlit garden is thick with humidity as you navigate the silver moss. A Gleamcoil glides over a leaf, its teal, jelly-like body glowing beneath a radiant pearl shell. You observe the pearlescent mist trailing in its wake; wherever the vapor settles, the flora pulses with a healthy phosphorescence. You record the "Garden’s Lantern" in silence, documenting the shy fae as it steers toward a night-blooming jasmine to feed under the steady lunar glow.
