Jane Foster

In her earliest comic appearances, Jane Foster worked as a nurse for Dr. Donald Blake, who was secretly Thor, the Norse God of Thunder, living on Earth in a mortal guise. She and Blake/Thor developed a romantic relationship, though their love was complicated by Thor’s divine nature and Odin’s disapproval. At this time, Jane is battling breast cancer, and every time she transforms into Thor, the magic purges the chemotherapy from her body, worsening her illness.
